Happy Howl-oween!

We started off the week with Noah bringing his cute puppy in to meet the class.  He used his Pet Shop prize card that he earned!  Thanks, Noah, Pepsi is adorable!

We also got a chance to be a dogsled team when Mari Hoe-Raitto, the director of the A-Chill grant for the district, brought her dog team to help teach us more about dog mushing!  She let the kids meet some of her dogs, and harness up to be a dog team themselves!  They took turns mushing around the playground, pulling each other.  It was a blast!  We will continue meeting with Mari to do more lessons about dog mushing throughout the year!

It's been chilly out at recess, so thank you for making sure your chid is dressed for the weather so they can have fun and get the outside time and fresh air they need!  As it gets colder, please remember to send a scarf or face mask, as their little cheeks get so cold.  Here are my little "angels"!

We walked to the clinic on Friday for a field trip as a capstone to our unit about the human body.  Thank you SO much to the Upper Tanana Health Center.  They always do such a great job!

We got to learn about how and when to brush our teeth from the TCC Dentist.  When he asked them how often they brushed their teeth, they were excited to tell him that they brushed 16 times a day or more.  He told them two or three would probably be just fine. :) .

Dr. Tamar showed them some of her doctor tools...

John showed them how an X-ray works, and they got to guess what was under the blanket and then see how an X-ray that could "see" right through the blanket to what was underneath.

Of course the goody bags were a HUGE hit, and the kids came back to the room and turned our little cabin into a clinic.  Our dolls are now all covered in band-aids and recovering well.

Thank you UTHC Clinic!

And besides all of that FUN, it was also HALLOWEEN!!!!!  On Monday we did surgery on our pumpkin...

Since we are learning about using adjectives to "paint" our story houses with colorful words, we learned about spiders and wrote about them using spooky adjectives!

We made spiders, too, at our Halloween Party!

I think I was too busy having fun to take many pictures of our party, but the kids were all dressed up so cute, and super excited.  We had a costume parade, read a story about Poor Old Joe, and felt some of his yucky "body parts", played pin the nose on the pumpkin, played Halloween 4 Corners, and played lots of games of Hide the Ghost.  Thank you to the many parents who stopped in and brought fun food to our party!!!!
