Moose Hide and Seek!

Welcome to the Jungle!  Monday the kids sang and acted in a musical about a little mouse helping a big lion.  They did a great job!  Tanner was our mighty hunter, and especially enjoyed capturing his brother, the lion in the afternoon performance!

We began our study of careers this week, to be continued next week as well.  We are opening up our eyes to the possibilities around us!  Jeff Wells and Bob Gingue from AK Fish and Game helped open our eyes to the world of being a biologist!  They taught us about keeping track of animal populations and the importance of managing hunting and fishing.  We got to try out radio telemetry!  Half of the class was the "moose", hiding with the collar, and the other half were the "biologists", looking for the moose collar.  It was a fantastic game of moose hide and seek!  We also saw lots of sign of real moose behind our playground!

We took advantage of our gorgeous weather to go on a nature walk.  Here we are collecting - oops!  Can't tell you!  You'll have to wait until Mother's Day to find out! ;)

And.... then the weather turned not-so-gorgeous.  But we still didn't want to stay inside!  So we went out with the first and second graders and had a snowman building party on the track field!  Last snowmen of the year! (We hope!)

We had fun babysitting the first graders' chicks, while anxiously awaiting our own to hatch next Sunday!
