Ducky Crazy!!!

Last week we had so much fun with our new little ducklings!  We end up with 5.  One was nice enough to hatch out on Monday during school.  They have gotten LOTS of love and attention!

Thank you Michelle Erickson for this awesome photo!

On Monday we made ducky cookies to celebrate their birth day!

Monday we spent some time being grateful to all of the staff at the school who help us so much!  We delivered donuts and signs the kids had made that said, "We "donut" know what we'd do without you!"  We wanted all of the staff to know how very much we appreciate how kind they are, how hard they work, and how much they add to our class!

To go along with our unit about plants in reading, we went on a flower walk to celebrate the first Crocuses popping up!  We collected a few for scientific purposes :) . Then we took them back to our classroom, dissected them, and labeled the parts.  We also got to see some cells and pollen grains under the microscope!

Then in writing we wrote garden poems.  The kids came up with some awesome poetry, that is now displayed on our Poet Tree.  They have become so much more independent in their writing!  Here are just a few examples...

For science we took a stroll over to the Biomass Plant and learned how it makes electricity for our school!  We saw the whole process from wood chips, to steam, to the generator and wires that bring it to our school.  Thank you Rion Sabin for a great tour, and for patiently answering all of our questions!

I just had to include a picture of the springtime fun we have been having at recess.  We are all loving this warmer weather.  You can't do this in a snowsuit!!!

Last but not least, you should all have gotten an invitation to our Kindergarten graduation ceremony Tuesday, May 22nd.  The kids have some songs to perform for you, and we will have an awards ceremony, slideshow and hand out diplomas.  Please feel free to pass out the invitations that your Kinder brought home and invite friends or family to help your child celebrate this huge accomplishment!
